An Iberian orca recently observed off the coast of Cádiz was found to have multiple penetrating wounds on its dorsal fin, consistent with shotgun shot patterns. The Iberian orca is a critically endangered species worldwide, with only about 30 individuals remaining in the entire population, making its survival extremely precarious. In addition to direct human-caused harm, ship noise, marine plastic pollution, oil spills, and reduced food supplies due to overfishing continue to threaten the survival and reproduction of this population.
