Massive Wildfire Rages in Washington State

A wildfire broke out in Elway Heights, Spokane County, Washington, and quickly spiraled out of control within hours due to a combination of strong winds, persistent high temperatures, and extremely dry vegetation. By that evening, the fire had burned approximately 2,500 acres (about 10 square kilometers), destroying numerous buildings. Level 3 evacuation orders—the highest level—were issued for multiple areas in Spokane, and thousands of residents were evacuated. Currently, 12 major wildfires are burning simultaneously across the state, with a total burn area exceeding 800 square kilometers, placing severe strain on firefighting resources.
