San Diego, California: Sewage Pollutes the Coast

The Coronado coastline in San Diego, California, has been severely polluted due to the direct discharge of domestic sewage across the border, with high levels of pathogenic bacteria, including E. coli, detected in seawater samples. Local authorities have immediately expanded beach closures, with multiple public beaches and coastal walking paths along the shoreline fully closed. All water activities, including swimming and surfing, are strictly prohibited. Authorities have warned the public that contact with the sewage may cause health issues such as gastroenteritis, skin rashes, and eye infections. The date for reopening the beaches has not yet been determined.
