Flooding in Northern and Central Dominican Republic

The northern and central regions of the Dominican Republic have experienced severe flooding triggered by persistent heavy rainfall, with the city of Gaspar Hernández bearing the brunt of the disaster. As of March 3, over 16,000 people have been forced to evacuate, numerous homes and farmlands have been destroyed, and floodwaters have contaminated drinking water sources, heightening the risk of waterborne diseases. The flooding has inflicted significant damage on local ecosystems and agricultural production.
