Survival crisis under heavy rainfall and flooding

Heavy rains that have recently ravaged southeastern Brazil, north-central India and the Philippines have had a severe impact on the survival of the local population. Persistent heavy rains have left a large number of farmlands waterlogged, impeding the growth of crops, putting food production at risk of being reduced, reducing farmers’ income, and dealing a blow to food supply and economic development. At the same time, the flooding triggered by the heavy rainfall mercilessly washed away roads, bridges and other infrastructure, and public service facilities such as electricity and water supply were also damaged, plunging the normal life of the residents into chaos and making it difficult to carry out rescue work.
