The AI-powered cetacean conservation platform developed jointly by the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Lenovo Group enables real-time tracking and behavioral analysis of Yangtze finless porpoises through over 200 smart cameras and underwater sonar devices deployed along the Yangtze River. The platform incorporates embodied intelligent hexapod robots capable of autonomously collecting water samples and biological data in complex tidal flat environments, boosting monitoring efficiency by 40%. Additionally, the application of carbon nanotube-modified anti-corrosion and anti-fouling coating technology in the Yangtze River’s eastern channel has effectively eliminated the risk of heavy metal pollution to finless porpoises posed by traditional buoy coatings.
