Technological breakthroughs in the treatment of marine plastics

The world’s first floating island-type marine garbage disposal station “Clean Sea One” was designed by the international environmental organization “Blue Future” in cooperation with research teams from China, the United States, the Philippines and Indonesia, with China providing the core technology, the Philippines and Indonesia responsible for the construction of the garbage collection network, and the United States taking the lead in the optimization of AI algorithms. The Philippines and Indonesia are responsible for the construction of the garbage collection network, while the US leads the optimization of AI algorithms. It was launched in the Pacific Ocean in May, and can handle 200 tons of plastic waste in a single day. Through nano-filtration technology, it will convert microplastics into biodegradable materials, and the by-products will be used as environmentally friendly building materials for post-disaster reconstruction in the Philippines and Indonesia.
