Thailand seizes US e-waste

On May 14, 2025, Thailand’s Bangkok port seized 238 tons of illegally imported e-waste from the United States, disguised as “mixed metal scrap.” The e-waste contains heavy metals such as lead and mercury, which will cause long-term pollution of soil and water if it flows into illegal workshops for disposal. This is the largest case of foreign garbage seized in Thailand this year, highlighting the problem of pollution transfer from developed to developing countries.
