Singapore Ocean Carbon Removal

Singapore’s technological exploration in the field of ocean carbon removal is centered on mineral-enhanced seawater sequestration, which accelerates the natural process of oceanic absorption of carbon dioxide through the electrolysis of seawater to produce alkaline substances or through the direct addition of minerals, such as peridotite. the first pilot at Singapore’s Tuas Research and Development Facility was initiated in April 2023 with the removal of 0.1 tonnes of carbon dioxide per day. Fully operational in 2025, the Equatic-1 plant will deploy 10 modules to remove 10 tons of CO2 per day, with a capacity of 3,650 tons per year, and produce 105 tons of hydrogen.
