Myanmar’s ecological destruction continues to worsen

Since the military took over power in Myanmar, illegal mining activities in Kachin State and Sagaing Division have led to deforestation, water pollution and the extinction of wildlife. Valuable timber (e.g. teak, rosewood) in Ayeyarwaddy Division has been subjected to large-scale logging, with serious collusion with local officials
