Japanese civic groups held a press conference on March 3 to question the standards related to organofluorine compounds (OFCs) set by the Food Safety Commission of the Cabinet Office of Japan. In recent years, Japan’s Okinawa Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and other places have been exposed to a succession of excessive levels of organofluorine compounds in the water, the nearby residents of the blood test results are abnormal, the U.S. military bases in Japan and Japan Self-Defense Forces bases are regarded as a possible source of contamination.
