On February 13, the Osaka Prefectural Government of Japan announced the results of a survey showing that the content of organofluorine compounds (PFAS) in the well water of Kumatori Town, Osaka Prefecture, exceeded the national standard significantly, with the highest level being 1,460 times higher than the national standard in Japan. The Osaka Prefectural Government and the Town of Kumatori investigated about 10 wells and rivers near the well and found that the PFAS content in the rivers did not exceed the standard, while the wells exceeded the standard in 6 places, of which 4 exceeded the standard significantly, and the highest one contained a total of 73,000 ng of PFOS and PFOA per liter of water.
