On February 1, a large amount of black oil stains were found floating in the sea area of the first sub-district of Sihanoukville, Cambodia, and some of the oil stains were washed up to the shore by the sea water. Cambodian Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Mines and Energy and Sihanoukville province officials quickly rushed to the scene to investigate, and mobilized many forces to clean up the polluted beach urgently on the same day, and used oil booms to block the further spread of oil stains, and successfully cleaned up 90% of the oil stains on the polluted beach in the night. 2 February, the beach was reopened but the authorities appealed to the tourists to refrain from going into the sea to splash in the water for the time being.
