Japan Fukushima water storage tank disintegration

On February 3, Kyodo News reported that Japan’s Tokyo Electric Power Company announced that the dismantling of storage tanks at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, which have been emptied of contaminated water, will begin as early as this month. 7 discharges of contaminated water will be carried out in fiscal year 2025, totaling about 54,600 tons of tritium, a radioactive substance with a total volume of about 15 trillion becquerels. This act has triggered widespread concern and worry in the international community. Marine ecologists and environmental organizations are worried about serious damage to the marine ecosystem, affecting the survival of marine organisms, and fishery operators are also concerned about the impact on their livelihoods, with many countries stepping up their efforts to test Japanese aquatic products.
