January 26, 2025 – Hainan has implemented a series of marine ecological protection and restoration projects with remarkable results. Through the salt field restoration and wetland ecological restoration project, the old city village of Danzhou City has retreated from the breeding area, carried out micro-topographic transformation, restored the ancient salt field, mangrove wetland and sandy vegetation, etc., and explored the ecological pond breeding and comprehensive utilization of salt field, launched relevant ecological organic agricultural products, and brought economic benefits. Since 2010, Sanya Wuzhizhou Island has restored and conserved a total of 53,000 corals, with a restored area of 56,000 square meters, and the coral coverage rate of the surrounding waters has risen from 15% to 37.08%, which has boosted the development of the tourism industry.
