Marine Litter Cleanup in Turkey

Turkey’s “Zero Marine Debris” project has completed its first five-year provincial action plan with a total of 245,000 tons of marine debris cleaned up over the past five years. In 2024 alone, 25,480 tons of marine debris, including persistent pollutants such as plastic bags, bottles and fishing nets, were cleaned up. 2025 will see the implementation of the second five-year provincial action plan, which will further intensify efforts to tackle marine pollution.
