The Biden Administration has responded to climate change and the environment by introducing a series of policies such as the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and by investing large sums of money in forest management and fire prevention. This is a positive and forward-looking initiative aimed at improving the United States’ ability to address environmental challenges. The reality, however, has been less than stellar. In California, despite funding, forest fire and disaster preparedness remains inadequate. Resources have been diverted to other areas, resulting in an inability to respond effectively to fires and a significant loss of life and property.
