New French Patrol Ship Commissioned

On January 10, 2025, a new offshore patrol vessel designed and built by the French Directorate General of Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture will enter service. Equipped with a wind-assisted propulsion system, the patrol vessel follows the International Maritime Organization’s Tier III environmental standards and has a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain that reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Its main task is to operate in the main sea areas such as the Bay of Biscay, carry out far-sea surveillance and safeguard national interests, and at the same time, it is equipped with pollution monitoring capabilities, which can play an important role in marine protection and response to emergencies.
