Plastic pollution continues to be one of the major global environmental problems, and rivers are the main way of connecting land-based sources of waste with the coastal and marine environment, and a large amount of plastic waste flows into the sea, including through rivers. According to the communiqué issued by the Municipality of Chaplina in BiH on December 18, it is participating in a working meeting on transboundary cooperation with the Croatian Municipality of Metković and the Croatian Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (CIOMA), aiming at the reduction of the flow of plastic waste into the Adriatic and Ionian Seas.
