Police in Greenland, a self-governing territory of Denmark, released Paul Watson, a prominent American anti-whaling activist, on December 17th local time, rejecting an extradition request from the Japanese authorities. The release of Paul Watson, who is the founder of the Sea Guardians Association and the Captain Paul Watson Foundation, and who has been working against whaling, drew the attention of animal advocates around the world, and to a certain extent increased the international community’s attention to whaling.
