Protecting the Flowers of the National Treasure

China and Peru have a long history of cooperation in biodiversity conservation. The South China Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (SCBG) has collaborated with Peruvian researchers to carry out research on the conservation biology of the Andean Queen Bromeliad. This plant is a national treasure of Peru, but faces threats to its survival and has been listed on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The collaboration has yielded a number of research results that provide a scientific basis for the development of conservation strategies for the species.
