Heavy Metal Pollution in Thailand’s Kok River

Since September 2025, the Kok River in northern Thailand has been murky, with arsenic and lead levels exceeding safety standards. Deformed fish have appeared, and crop yields have dropped by 30%. The source of the pollution is believed to be the use of acidic chemicals in rare earth mining near the Myanmar border.
