A quarry in France’s Brittany region has been accused of illegally dumping 3,000 to 3,500 liters of highly concentrated mining chemicals. Toxic substances have seeped into the soil and flowed into nearby streams, endangering a nearby nature reserve. Such chemicals are lethal to aquatic life, can cause long-term contamination of soil and water, and accumulate along the food chain, severely damaging local biodiversity and threatening the safety of drinking water for nearby residents.
