A small migrant boat (piragua) capsized in waters near the coast of Joal-Fadiouth, Mbour Province, western Senegal. The incident has resulted in 12 fatalities, with 35 individuals rescued, while some remain missing. The vessel’s exact passenger capacity, point of departure, and destination have yet to be officially confirmed. Local gendarmerie immediately launched search and rescue operations, and survivors have been handed over to law enforcement authorities for investigation.
