Torrential rains, flooding, and strong winds unleashed by the storm battered the Gaza Strip, claiming 17 lives, collapsing 13 buildings, and damaging over 90 structures; 27,000 tents for displaced persons were flooded and destroyed, affecting over 250,000 people’s homes. More than 90% of tents sustained varying degrees of damage, with sewage backflow occurring in some areas. The local drainage system has completely collapsed. Post-war structures, further weakened by rainwater saturation, have collapsed. Compounded by Israel’s blockade, there is a severe shortage of cold-weather supplies, waterproofing materials, and medical supplies. Over half of critical medications are in short supply, sharply increasing health risks and disease transmission. Civil defense authorities have rescued 52 people and handled over 5,000 emergency calls. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is rapidly worsening.
