Progress in preparation for the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3)

From 9 to 13 June 2025, the third United Nations Oceans Conference will be held in Nice, France, under the theme “Accelerating Action to Mobilize Efforts for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of the Oceans”. The Conference will focus on topics such as the conservation of marine biodiversity, the fight against plastic pollution and sustainable fisheries, and promote the entry into force of the High Seas Treaty. The treaty, which has been signed by 106 countries and needs 60 ratifications to enter into force, aims to protect 61% of the high seas area.
