AI aids whale conservation

Researchers at Rutgers University New Brunswick have developed an AI tool that predicts the habitat distribution of endangered whales, aiming to reduce the number of fatal ship-whale collisions and provide a scientific basis for developing conservation strategies and enabling responsible ocean development. The tool could enhance the ability to monitor the distribution of important species in the ocean, such as the North Atlantic right whale, and the findings have been published in Nature Scientific Reports.
