Water levels in key sections of the Rhine River in Germany have dropped significantly, forcing inland cargo ships to reduce their loads, which has led to a significant increase in shipping costs. Low water levels in the Danube have restricted the cooling water supply to Hungary\u2019s only nuclear power plant, forcing the shutdown of its reactors; thermal power plants in Romania have also reduced output due to tight cooling water supplies.
